THE MEET SERIES

The Meet is a series of invented scenes, each depicting a meeting between 2 people.  Moments of everyday life that can have an impact on us, even when fleeting. Ambiguity is deliberate for the viewer to add their own story.

Each meeting may be about to happen, have already happened, be intended, unintended, felicitous, romantic, vexatious, sad, stalking or fleeting moments where the people don’t know each other but just a glance is exchanged.

Works from this series achieved Finalist status of the VAA Professional Artist Award 2023, and one of only 5 to receive the “Highly Commended Exhibitor” award.  They were also chosen for Homiens Meet the Artist booklet with the Curator’s notes:”Sophia employs charcoal with remarkable movement and subtlety, crafting a hauntingly cinematic composition that invites narrative interpretation”.
