I’m excited to announce that 2025 sees the commencement of my year long art residency project across several wine domaines in Burgundy.
I will be drawing, in charcoal the people who work in all areas of the domaines. It is the human side of the life of a wine domaine that interests me the most. I will take inspiration from these visits to draw some scenes of work, maybe spotlights on particular aspects of the work and perhaps some portraits. The residency is about artistic research so I’m not defining too much what the result will be as there will be much experimentation. They will be drawn in my expressive style, and it will be interesting to see if my style evolves over the year.
Several great wine domaines have kindly agreed to collaborate on the project and I will spend a few days each month this year going between them to take photos and sometimes to draw on site.
The project has been set up with the kind help of La Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne in Beaune, where an exhibition of the work created during this period will be held in May/June 2026 and also in their satellite Cités in Chablis and Macon. There will be a book of selected drawings available.
